Hiawatha Elementary School held its Pick a Reading Partner celebration on March 27. Two classes had 100% participation rates in this year’s PARP program. To honor them and the theme, “Reading is Magical,” the top two classes sprinkled Principal Joe Watson with pixie dust as he was dressed in a unicorn costume at the culminating celebration!

With the spring comes science fair season, and young scientists in Sachem are presenting the experiments they’ve worked hard on. Hiawatha and Tamarac Elementary Schools both held science fairs this month. The cafeterias were filled with presentation boards as students explained their research to their families and peers. High school students from East and North visited the elementary schools to judge the projects. The first place winners will advance to the Brookhaven National Laboratory Science Fair in June!
