Merrimac Elementary School held a special thank you event to honor building nurse, Mrs. Conner, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Kindergarten teacher Kristen Aue came up with the idea to invite the Merrimac community to send their child to school with a flower, whether it was real, fake, or drawn, to give to Mrs. Conner on School Nurse Day, which is celebrated on May 8. The outpouring of love for Mrs. Conner was incredible and Merrimac thanks her for her years of service!

Merrimac Elementary School third grade teacher and humanities principal’s aide Danielle Sicari led the building in chair yoga via Google Meet for International Social Emotional Learning Day. This practice helped students be self-aware and have self-control, skills that enable individuals to cope with challenges and practice more effective problem solving skills. The students and staff left feeling calm, relaxed and at peace.

Many thanks to Ms. Sicari and her class for volunteering their time to share this practice with the rest of Merrimac Elementary School!
