Dear Sachem Family,
As an educator for the past three decades, I am extremely proud to serve as the superintendent of schools in one of the greatest school districts on Long Island and in New York State. The success of our district is a direct reflection of the strong home-to-school partnership that exists across our 15 school buildings and permeates into all that we do to nurture and educate the nation’s next leaders.
Annually, our students and staff capture high praise on the local, regional and national levels for their exceptional talents, both in and outside of the classroom. We proudly boast numerous Advanced Placement Scholars, All-County and All-State musicians, decorated athletic teams and staff who have been honored as NYS Master Teachers. In addition, we have students who dedicate countless hours to volunteer work and those who are learning important trades through programs such as our expansive CTE offering. To say I am proud is an understatement.
My philosophy for education has always been focused on one thing: putting students first. As such, I strive to maintain an open line of communication not only with our parents, but with our students and staff. Additionally, recognizing the important part mental health plays in the work that we as a district do, I remain steadfast in my efforts to bolster a strong social-emotional learning program K-12. These two items are key factors in all that we do to ensure our students have the support they need to learn, grow and achieve.
Sachem is a district well rooted in traditions, which is why so many of our past students chose to remain here to raise their own families. That sense of homegrown community is just one of the many reasons our large district feels like a tight-knit family. I look forward to continuing those traditions that help to define our district and forge new ones as we move through the year together.
Best wishes for a great year ahead!
