Tamarac Elementary School
Dear Tamarac Community:
Happy spring! Happy Easter and happy Passover!! I hope this letter finds you well and that the cold snowy winter is behind us.
Our PTA Basket Bash was a huge success! What an amazing evening. Kudos to Beth Toia, Alaine Chamberlain and the entire Basket Bash Committee for putting together a great fundraiser! Over $16,000 was raised and all of that money goes toward student programs and field trips. On behalf of the students, we cannot thank you enough. We are looking forward to all of the great programs that we can offer to our students because of your hard work and our generous community!
It was great to see so many people at our pancake breakfast at Applebee’s. Thanks go out to our Father’s Club for putting together a great community activity. I would also like to acknowledge our faculty for joining us so early on a Sunday morning.
We also had the opportunity to celebrate our students and their great work at our Reflections ceremony and our Science Fair. I could not be prouder of our students for their outstanding work. It was wonderful to see a packed crowd and great projects. We want to wish our first place winners good luck at the Brookhaven National Lab Science Fair competition.
Sports night is rescheduled for Friday, May 4th. More details will be coming.
Our students in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade will be participating in the New York State English Assessments and the New York State Assessment in Mathematics in April and May. The ELA Assessments will be on April 11th and 12th. The New York State Assessment in Mathematics will be on May 1st and 2nd.
School will be closed on March 30th through April 5th and will reopen on Friday, April 6th. This is because of needing to use too many snow days. On behalf of the faculty and staff, we would like to wish everyone a joyous Easter and a happy Passover. Please enjoy spring recess and time spent with family and friends.
Our next PTA meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 17th at 10:00 AM. PTA will meet in the PTA room. Our Father’s Club meeting is scheduled for the same evening but will begin at 7:00 PM. Our annual spring cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, May 5th. Many hands make light work. This is a great opportunity for former students looking for community service hours to add a few hours to their logs.
Don’t forget about our 2nd annual Fin-tastic 5k race! It is scheduled for Saturday, May 19th. It will be a great event. There will be raffles and a one-mile Fun Run for younger children. Please join us!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 244-5680 or via e-mail at email@example.com.
