How to Find Your Book

  • 000 – 099:  Reference
  • 100 – 199:  Philosophy
  • 200 – 299:  Religion
  • 300 – 399:  Social Sciences
  • 400 – 499:  Languages
  • 500 – 599:  Natural Sciences
  • 600 – 699:  Technology
  • 700 – 799:  Art and Music
  • 800 – 899:  Poetry and Plays
  • 900 – 999:  Geography and History

 

  • B: Biographies (arranged by famous person’s last name, example, Abraham Lincoln, would be B LIN)
  • FIC: Fiction is arranged by the genre FIRST, then by the author's last name.

(This is a color coded label system - each genre is a different color. Some genre examples are: Adventure (green), Fantasy (yellow), Historical (brown), , and Sports (blue))

  • P: Picture Books (arranged by author’s last name)
  • SC: Short Stories - multiple stories in one book, often with a theme, such as horse stories, or scary stories. You may have one author who writes many short stories, or a collection where there are many authors writing one story each.
  • PLA: Playaway audio books - listen to a book using earbuds. On display on top of bookcase.
  • 741.5: A popular category in non-fiction, this is for Manga books (Japanese style) and for Graphic Novels. They have their own bookcase and genre stickers.
