Waverly Elementary School

Principal's Corner

June 2018
Dear Waverly Community,

What an amazing year!  I cannot believe we have already started the summer season.

The deadline for placement letters for the upcoming school year has passed.  We have begun to work on grouping students for the upcoming school year.  Please do not send in any placement letters going forward.  We will do our best to honor your requests, but please understand it is impossible to honor all of them, especially any letter requesting specific students to be placed with or students to avoid.  As always, specific teacher requests will not be honored.

We had a tremendous year with many activities and field trips. These events help to extend learning for our students outside the classroom. We are working to secure many activities for the 2018-2019 school year.

We would like to congratulate all of our fifth grade students for the completion of their elementary educational career.  We wish them the best of luck as they embark on their journey at Sagamore Middle School.

We would like to wish Mrs. Glibowski and Mrs. Businski all the best as they start the next chapter in their lives. They have made connections and have impacted the lives of so many students. They have dedicated themselves for a combined 38 years to the Sachem community and we want to wish them a happy, healthy and wonderful retirement.  They will be greatly missed!

The summer is a great time to read with your child(ren).   Please try to read with them for 20 minutes each day.

The entire Waverly faculty and staff would like to wish our Waverly students and their families a healthy and happy summer and we look forward to welcoming you back in September. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at (631)-654-8690 or

Have a great summer,
John Ruggero
